Golden Gate Park, in my book should be every bit as popular and well known as Central Park and for some unknown reason it’s not. It is a virtual oasis in The City.
One of many reasons is the Japanese Tea Garden. For a few dollars you can be transported to another place in time. It is peaceful and joyous and well cared for. Because of the small entry fee it is busy but not overrun with crowds.
So take a picnic and enjoy a first rate garden in the middle of the City by the Bay.

Wow! These pictures are incredible! I wish we had parks like this in Canada. I haven’t seen anything like this before. I truly would love to just sit and enjoy the beautiful of this tranquil looking park! Thanks for sharing!

Totally. I couldn’t agree more. Anywhere that takes the care to ensure fish will stay alive in a public place must be worth the visit! Honestly one could spend three days in Golden Gate Park alone and keep very busy. It is a wonderful place with top rate museums and lovely gardens. It depends on what part of the state you live in. Where I live in Sacramento it is so dry I feel like we can only grow desert plants right now. But, that is primarily because of the drought that is on right now. But, in the Bay Area where the Tea Garden is it is a marvelous place to grow plants.

Well, Wisconsin and winter tend to kill off a lot of plants – what I really think I need is a greenhouse!

This is a beautiful little haven in San Francisco! By far one of the most picturesque Japanese gardens we have visited.

Thank you! I am glad you think so. I spent many years never having been there. And I have been stuck on it ever since. It is always a toss up on visiting here or the Botanic Gardens in the same Golden Gate Park.

I wish I could visit the Golden Gate Park now. Maybe one day.
Just a small suggestion: I don’t know anything about photography. I am ignorant on that but as a viewer, I did find it a little difficult in cases when the picture didn’t fit the screen and I had to scroll to see it entirely. It would be more convenient if the pictures fit the screen.
Of course, you are the expert and it’s your blog and I am just a mere mortal with no knowledge whatsoever.

I found them too big but I say it at the cost of repetition, I’m no expert.
I am using an Apple MacBook Air with an 11 inch screen. I hope that helps.

Oh, my! That’s stunning! We have a temple here in Hawaii called the Byodo-In Temple, made as an exact replica of a temple several centuries old in Japan. It’s nestled in the valley of the east side of Oahu, the main island. I bet you’d get a lot more fabulous photos out of it than I did: http://elleforlife.com/2015/01/08/byodo-in-temple-honolulu/

Its a beautiful garden. I’ve visited the Japanese Garden in Buenos Aires and was lovely also. San Francisco is one of the cities in my list and now I know that the Japanese tea garden is a place to go. Loved your blog and I’ll be coming back,

Beautiful pictures. Brought back memories. I used to live a few blocks from here and would walk over on the weekend and have tea and cookies in the tea house. I hope they still serve tea.

When I was in my late teens I had several opportunities to go to the Japanese Tea Gardens. I so adore it there. Wonderful photos and oh so beautiful.
