If you won the lottery where would you live Jenny? I would live right here. Period. Powerscourt Gardens was thrust upon me 16 years ago whilst taking a sweet little tour called the “Wild Wicklow Tour.” I was, as they say, gobsmacked. Primarily the gardens left me speechless. I love this area of Ireland, Wicklow. I find it green and lovely and close to Dublin without being IN Dublin. It has mountains and bogs, and it is near Glendalough and Laragh a few of my favorite little places.
Have I mentioned the gardens? I am a sucker for a great garden and this one doesn’t disappoint. In showing my parents Ireland I thought they would really enjoy this place and so I took them there more than willing to visit the place I loved so long ago.
When you walk in to the gardens either turn left or right and spend two or three hours meandering the loop with a smile plastered on your face. Bring a picnic to drag the smile out a little longer. I kept thinking it was going to rain on us, not that it would have mattered, but when you are in Wicklow everything turns out roses.

The Brownshill Dolmen is nearby and should not be missed…
I can see why you would want to live here. It’s a really beautiful and stately!

It takes a lot of rain and a army of gardeners to keep such lovely gardens.
Thinking of it it does make quite a contrast between green rainy Eire and dry sunny California.

Hey there. Multi-tasking as usual, eh?
Have to sign off. Lunch time. 2PM here (always late in Mexico) it must be what? noon over there? Bon appétit.

Yp. Something like that. I believe California is two hours behind us. How’ve you been? Ready for the week-end? Will you take the TR3 out?

It’s too cold! Probably not. No top and as I am a California girl I don’t do well in the cold.

We spent a day here in the summer, your post reminds me to hurry up and sort out my photos (still not done!!). Hopefully they will be somewhere near as good as these – they are stunning.

Thank you! I’m sure they are great. It’s fun for me to see people posting on places I have been. I love to see what they saw as highlights. It’s amazing two people can go to the same place and see it two different ways. Looking forward to your photos.

Those are great photographs. The thing that surprised me most was the Japanese garden. It seems to have taken a wrong turning somewhere and ended up in the wrong country. Never mind! It’s still beautiful. 🙂

I know, right? It’s a beautiful representation though for sure. We have them here why not in Ireland too!?

True. It makes me wonder if somewhere in Japan they have an Irish garden. 🙂

Yes, they seem to have spread their way right around the world — not that I’m complaining. I love Irish pubs.

Oh, Jenny. Your photos are outstanding here. The statues are so well captured, particularly “keeping watch.” The flowers just explode with colour. It’s a stunning garden. I’m so glad I had the chance to see it through your eyes.

I haven’t. It’s weird because they are both about the only two places in the entire country that I haven’t been to. My fiancé is actually from Wicklow, so we will definitely journey there at some stage!
