After visiting Pere Lachaise Cemetery we took the metro to Colonal Fabian to take a walk along the Canals eventually winding up at Republic. We had an amazing lunch at the Atmosphere Cafe and meandered up and over every bridge we encountered. This is a lovely part of Paris with lots of options for shopping and food and well worth a trip off the normal tourist path of Paris.

Woah, that’s awesome! Thanks for pointing it out to me. Certainly an interesting location made more interesting by the lack of water. I also love that you touched on the Hotel d Nord and the movie. I ate at the Atmosphere cafe and it was wonderful and of course photographed the Hotel. I have never seen the movie but now I want to go and find it.

Very similar for sure. (I’ve never been and would love to go sometime.) Also the canals in Strasbourg come to think of it.

I’ve rolled along beside the River Walk, but have yet to ride one of the tour boats. The people always wave to me as they go by in the boat.

They must have. I will be down there near the end of September for five days. Maybe one evening while it’s cooler I’ll check it out. Maybe I can get a friend of mine to go with me.

We went on foot over and under all of the bridges. Didn’t get out on the water this time. It was too cold. Welcome back home.

On foot was a good idea. And thank you for the welcome home. 😎 it does feel like it. After a weird first few days, i am getting the traditional feeling. I can walk this city with my eyes closed. I guess that is home. 🤔😉

Nice. Vibrant. Full life and energy. The comparison to Paris was depreesing, London is alive, Paris has downcast eyes. A shame.

Pere Lachaise is a great cemetry, where my hudband’s grandfather is buried. While throngs of tourists flock to the handful of uber famous residents of the cemetry, the beauty of the place lies in the vast collection of sculptured tombstones. A bit like a larger version of the also beautiful cemetry in Buenos Aires.

I did enjoy walking around and seeing some of the sculptures and really enjoyed the monuments to the people who died in the war.
