It is so hot and dry in Northern California right now (Around 100-110F/ or 38-43C) it’s intolerable at times. What can possibly thrive in this heat?
Sunflowers friends, sunflowers can! It’s sunflower season in the country so I took a quick drive to the Davis area and took some shots in a flower field before it got too hot and before the bees ran me off. The sky is slightly hazy with smoke from surrounding fires which only got progressively worse after I took these photos. So enjoy my cheerful sunflowers and stay cool friends!
How pretty … love fields filled with sunflowers!

It’s funny how the thought never occurred to me to go and photograph them before. Sometimes I forget about the stuff that’s in my own backyard.

Nice shots! I love sunflowers. And yes, around Sacramento it certainly gets HOT.

Thank you! It was fun for me and I’m glad I found a farm easily and quickly with flowers still in bloom.

Such a beautiful flower. And well caught.
In French it is a Tournesol. “Turnsun”.
Hope the rain comes soon in your parts.

Thank you! Van Gogh liked his sun flowers.

He did. Daughter #1 was at the world HIV Congress in Amsterdam. Went to the Van Gogh museum. Came back delighted. 🙂

Wouldn’t that be a lovely treat? I have seen small groupings of his paintings over the years. But I’ve never seen or been to that museum. Never been to Amsterdam for that matter.

I lived in Amsterdam for 3 years as a child, between two African postings. Can’t begin to tell you the weather shock. 🙂 But Amsterdam has changed a lot, (getting warmer) and the city has been restored and is beautiful. Went back a few times and loved it. Put it on your To-Travel-To list. 🙂

I will certainly go there some day!

Sure will. Either you leave little Colin for a week or two with his grandparents and escape with Hubby or you take him with you. Gonzalo was all right with us in Asia.

Yah I can’t wait to travel with him. Hopefully soon. We will see how he progresses.

All in due time. Our advantage in Asia was that we were 5 adults, so we could easily “rotate” caring for him. Not such a heavy load.

Good point! So I think what I’m hearing is that Colin and I will go with you and your family on your next vacation! 😉

Oh wow, what a small world! I travel most Sundays between Sacramento and Vacaville, so you know I pass Davis.I know a graduate from UC and a staff member. In one of my following posts I’ll show the grapes from UC Davis.

That’s perfect. We are in the same region! You must be done with the heat by now too!
