Upper Lake, California is a lovely respite from the rest of the Clear Lake area. If you are ever passing through skip everything in Clear Lake and visit this cute little hidden gem. Great food, nice shop keepers, and an interesting historic feel. It seems this little area is only getting more and more rejuvenated every time we pass through. It seems a perfect place to spend some time with a camera!
***On another note: I hope everyone is hanging in there during this time of isolation and uncertainty. These photos were taken from a recent trip prior to the shelter-in-place restrictions. I hope in sharing them I can help make you smile for even a moment. Take good care everyone.
Otis R. Johnson Wilderness Park was a lovely surprise. I took the family to the Fort Bragg/Mendocino area for the beaches. The first few days we were there the wind was so bad we were being legitimately sand blasted on the beach so we decided to take refuge inland a bit on some short hikes. None of us had ever visited or heard of this little park but we were all pleasantly surprised. We found gorgeous lighting amid the banana slugs, salamanders, fish, bugs, dog walkers, and mushrooms. Enjoy a few photos from this unknown gem.
Spring in Northern California = White and Pink flowers dropping like snow. I visit this little spot every year with my little guy. It’s hard not to enjoy perfect weather with perfect white buds and a perfect travel partner.
The wide open walls mural festival did a spooky number on this building. I couldn’t help but submit for Norm 2.0’s Thursday doors. U for unusual.

Wide Open Walls 916 festival brings art to the city large and small. These two really spoke to me. Attached to a school I had to try and capture their angles. I remember making shapes like this with string and pens when I was a child. These were probably my favorite for this visit downtown! Enjoy.
I finally made it to the San Francisco Zoo. Have you ever tried to go somewhere and wind up starting to go half a dozen times before it actually works out? I have even driven here a few times and couldn’t park or it was closed etc. Well, we finally made it, and the weather was fine. It was a lovely day to visit the famous beachside zoo and botanical garden. Many of the animals were doing what they do best and what I wish I was doing, napping. Some of the enclosures were smaller, darker, and more older fashioned than I would have expected at a zoo this large and famous and frequently visited. But, toddler temper tantrums aside it was a lovely visit with the highlights being the hippo, the giraffes, the penguins, the koalas (thinking of their friends down under), and the gardens.
*My son would like to note his favorite part was the bubbles and the garbage cans. So, there you have it, a solid three year old review of the Zoo.
Lovely gardens here at the Zoo and the weather was fine
I love me some giraffes
Pretty shot of the aviary
