Otis R. Johnson Wilderness Park was a lovely surprise. I took the family to the Fort Bragg/Mendocino area for the beaches. The first few days we were there the wind was so bad we were being legitimately sand blasted on the beach so we decided to take refuge inland a bit on some short hikes. None of us had ever visited or heard of this little park but we were all pleasantly surprised. We found gorgeous lighting amid the banana slugs, salamanders, fish, bugs, dog walkers, and mushrooms. Enjoy a few photos from this unknown gem.
Looks gorgeous and peaceful!

Thank you. It actually was. And it was nice to get out of the wind that day.

The park is new to me, as well. Has it been recently established or have I simply missed it on my trips up and down the coast?

Well, hard to say. The sign didn’t look new and a few bridges looked like they had been there a while. It just appears not well advertised. And understandably people go there for the beach. But, our happy accident in finding it proved fruitful what with all of the interesting things we found – mushrooms, lizards, three kinds of salamander, fish, birds, wildflowers, etc. It’s by no means epic but it was a nice little quiet place to explore particularly if you are already in town with nothing better to do.

That’s the official count. With every country using a different system. But at least the differences should be consistent in time. What worries me is the curves. All exponential so far. Only China shows leveling. And without falling in the Tramp’s trap, one may wonder if China’s figures are 100% accurate. We know Mexico’s figures are totally manipulated…

People here have been saying all along the numbers are wrong. I’m sure they are. It is worrisome if everyone here is basing our decisions on china’s bad data. I believe they showed the curve flattening early so some assume ours will too. Not sure if that is accurate or not.

The numbers are wrong just about anywhere. In France the deaths in retirement homes were not included in the tally until 2-3 days ago, because local HEW ha no access to the data. Why do politicians lie even on what they had for breakfast? To avoid panic? To shy away from responsibility? To manipulate? This is terrible.

How bad did that make the numbers jump? Is all of your family in France healthy?

When they eventually got the numbers “right” for retirement homes, it added approximately 1,000 deaths to the “hospital tally” of 5 or 6,000. 20% roughly? And you can be sure the US is the same. Each state probably computes casualties with different systems…
All accounted for and well in France. I do have an Italian friend in the hospital in Milan though. Very scary… We all hope he will be ok…

Good luck to your friend. We do calculate deaths in retirement homes…as should all or hopefully most states.

We’ll see next week how he goes… Meanwhile… take it easy at work next week. Masks and hand washing. You will be all right.
