What does it say for your luck when you lose a 4-leaf clover you have found?

I am pretty sure the Irish Saints are shaking their head at me. My sweet husband and I were walking through a garden of large clovers. I was admiring them and asked my husband to find me a four leaf clover knowing that most people live their entire lives without finding one. No joke, he bends over and the first clover he picks is a giant 4-leaf clover of the most beautiful variety. He naturally thought this clover business was a piece of cake. I took a few photos of it and placed it in the pages of a book like it was my most prized possession. After arriving home I placed it within the pages of a nice hard backed book intending to frame it some day. I chose an important book that I love so I would never lose it. Well, guess what? I can’t remember which book I put it in and haven’t been able to find it now for going on two years. Ugh. Saint Patrick and Saint Brigid are surely rolling their eyes at me.

There were many surprises at the San Diego Zoo. But none as gloriously and feathered as the beautiful birds. Everywhere I went through the park I was surrounded by lovely birds each more interesting that the last. I have attached a few of my favorites either because they were unusual or because they had charachter and paid attention to little ol’ me. My grandmother and I have always taken offense when animal don’t like us or don’t pay attention to us. These feathered friends were very curious and as interested in me as I was in them. If only they carried a camera with them everywhere they went…

I haven’t felt this happy in a very long time

Anyone that knows me knows that two of my favorite things are animals and photography. So, having a surprise afternoon off in beautiful San Diego took me to their lovely zoo for the first time ever. I had a smile plastered on my face the entire time. Everywhere I turned it was one impressive animal after another. Zebras, giraffe, sloth, Galapagos turtle, hippo, so many glorious birds I couldn’t keep count. Any one of these animals would be impressive on their own. But each animal was one-upped by the next even cooler animal. Having something to photograph other than brides for a change was such a treat. Did I mention sloth?
