P is for Peonies! Hot pink peony that is. (I’ve been watching too much Sesame Street these days with the little one.) Maple Rock Garden had a small peony display this year and they were certainly pretty in pink!

Thanks! I wish they had more. They only had a few bunches. But, a few bunches were better than no bunches. Thanks! Have a great afternoon.

Beautiful photo! Peonies are an all-time favorite! I have a Japanese variety in my garden that is both fragrant and fragile to the touch. I’ve named it Masako in honor of my mother. I will post a picture of it when it blossoms.

My mother had “pivoines” like those in the garden of the house in Normandy. I always associate peonies with her. 🙂

Well, that is a nice sentiment. We don’t have a ton of them around here and I am not sure if that is because of the climate or if they just aren’t popular. I don’t know if they are hard to grow or not. My thumb isn’t terribly green.

Climate maybe? Normandy is pretty humid all year round. And California is… extreme? 🙂

California is a large state and it varies a lot from region to region as you found with San Francisco.

True. I also know that peonies are very important in Chinese culture. Which has very varying climates.
