There are many trails and parks which surround Folsom Lake in Northern California. I have driven by this one a million times, and to be honest, had never even noticed it was a park before. Last fall I drove by and noticed some pretty glorious fall foliage and ever since then I had wanted to check it out. It’s winter here and it’s been raining in NorCal finally. So, when we had a break from the rain, the boy and I brought our rain boots and checked it out. The park is pretty basic and has only a small trail where mountain bikers seem to enjoy. No wildlife was out so the puddles were the star of the show for my son. I couldn’t help but think of Ireland seeing what would surely be called a Fairy Tree in that part of the world.

The moisture has indeed been welcome. Love that blue sky with the lone tree.

Little boys and puddles do go together. Hopefully he jumped up and down a bit in addition to staring down into the vernal pool. 🙂 –Curt

Oh yah. A change of clothes was required before entry in to the car.

It was all I could do to keep him from filling the boots to the brim.

I’ve done that many a time when out backpacking, Jinny. It’s not so much fun as an adult! 🙂 But it beats crossing a raging torrent filled with snow-melt, or even a rocky warm summer creek, in your bare feet!

Sure sucks to have wet socks for the rest of your hike! I’ve been there too.

I started wearing less expensive backpacking boots because they were lighter and the water would squish out of them!

Squish! I started getting boots which were water resistant. That helped a lot. Didn’t help when I stepped in the bog water next to that big boat I featured on today’s post though. Smelled awful and had to lose the boots and the socks. Thanks fully I randomly brought a spare in the car! Otherwise I would have been barefoot.

Haven’t visited my blogs yet, Jenny, but squish sounds about right. 🙂

Nice views. Fresh air. You would probably get mad without those outings.
Why is kids love to waddle in the water so much?

It’s been a life saver that we are able to go outside. I don’t know about the puddles but I love it. Pure happiness.
