I had the opportunity last weekend to visit the Old Sacramento Railroad Museum with my extended family and my new baby. This museum has a wonderful collection of old locomotives and railroad equipment. They even have a mock up of the controversial bullet train planned to go from Northern California to LA. The museum is located in the interesting and fun Old Sacramento district. Upstairs the museum is filled with a very large collection of train toys. The toys were far more interesting to the baby than I thought they would be. The Thomas the train tables and toys will surely be a go-to when he is older! They were a hit with the many toddlers and their exhausted looking parents.
That first photo is precious. You can see your little guy taking it all in and processing. What a fun outing 😊

I love that one. He sure was. He was very interested in the movement and lights.

The museum is a favorite of ours. We’ve taken the grandkids there and they go wild with the incredible displays. But then again, so do their grandparents. –Curt

You would probably get a kick out of the post I did previously on the museum. Did you happen to catch it? I had fun with my macro lens.

There’s just something appealing about trains. I’m glad to see the appeal isn’t lost, even on the very young. 😉

Me too! I wonder if it will fade over time?

If I visit this place with my son (three and half years old), he will keep on thinking that this is a big train themed play land 😀

Yah. Probably. The kids love this place! (Mostly because of the Thomas Train toys they get to play with.) I will definitely be bringing my baby back when he is a little bigger so he can play on them. There were lots of tired looking parents sitting there watching their kids gleefully play with Thomas.

Your father must have had toy trains. They were quite in vogue back then.
