Greetings from my home town Sacramento, California! I’m still alive. I’m just over here sequestered in my house raising a tiny human and working in between with the occasional break to eat and sleep. Thank you for your patience with my lack of posts and lack of travels.
I headed downtown this morning for an appointment and snapped some random Sacramento photos of things not everyone would pick to highlight my town. I’ve never really posted much about Sacramento so I finally took a moment to focus on a few locations and things that have always been the background of my runnings around. These are some places I enjoy for one reason or another. The art, the old signs, the institution of it, or the plane weirdness emitted.

Definitely looks like the Twilight Zone. 🙂 Eclectic eccentric.

That’s funny. Never thought of it that way but it fits.

Very well! Slovenia is the champion of Europe in basketball. 😉 The rest is fine too, especially that the heat and drought are gone. I hope all good there too.

How fun. I heard the Euro vision singing competition happened too which is fun.

😀 Oh, yes, the Eurovision Song Contest happens every year, in May or so. I fully forgot who won this year… let me check. Oh, right! The Portuguese boy. Not a bad song at all, usually the winners are more poppy.

It’s neat. We have plenty of singing competitions but it could be fun if it was state against state.

Good to see you back! And with so many sights well known to me. Was that the cow up on the roof of the service station in Rio Linda? –Curt

Thanks! No. Prob same cow though. It’s on the riverside restaurant bordering on Curtis Park. I wanted to photograph the one on 16th street leaving downtown but I didn’t go that way. Another day! Hope all is well with u guys.

It’s great up here in Oregon, now the fires that were threatening to burn down our house have gone away. 🙂 Drove by the Rio Linda cow not long ago with our grandkids. There were fascinated with the cow. –Curt

Ha! I’ll have to try and capture the other cows for then one of these days. Trouble is the one I most want to capture is on a busy street which is hard to pull over for.
Glad you and your house survived the fire. You guys got the brunt of it so far. (Fire season is alive and well for us into November December…)

At least its dropped from extreme to moderate here, and the worst of the smoke has cleared out. What is it about cows… 🙂 –Curt

Not sure but they are funny and grab your attention when they are on the roof of a building!

A great marketing gimmick. Then there are all the cities that have been decorated by large ceramic cows, which I always find amusing.

It makes it interesting anyway. I love when they have artist decorate big stags, or hearts, or bears or something. We have lots of roosters around to that have been decopauged or mosaiced. It’s fun.

Thanks for the magical tour of your neighborhood. Tiny humans can take up so much of our time. 🙂

Like I said (elsewhere) I love it. A varied selection of themes many people would not even see. 🙂
That, too me is what photography is for: to stray away from the obvious, show details that escape us.
Very nice work my friend.
(Were you born in Sacramento?)

I was yes. It was actually fun to try and capture of few of the things I enjoy. There are so many like that downtown. I just need to get there more often.
I am kicking myself for not taking a photo of the capital. I was at a meeting down there last week and spaced out.
